PlayStation 4 Streaming TV Options

When it comes to streaming Netflix, the most used tool isn't the iPad, iPhone or laptop. Nope, the most used device to view Netflix is the PlayStation 3.

PlayStation 4 Streaming TV OptionsIt would be safe to say that despite the ability to watch Hulu Plus or Amazon Instant Video from the PS3, Netflix is still the most popular streaming option on the system and in the market. With the market already so cluttered, PlayStation isn't making it any easier for Netflix to maintain its stranglehold on the market. At last week's E3 press event, the company announced that other streaming companies would be venturing into the market for PS3, PS4 and the PS Vita consoles. Also joining the network will be Flixster and Redbox Instant.

How do all of these services differ and which one is best for you?

Netflix

Established in 1997, Netflix has grown into one of the most popular services in the entertainment world. The company boasts a subscription rate of more than 36 million subscribers including more than 29 million in the United States alone. Netflix offers users a little of everything from originals like "House of Cards," or season four of "Arrested Development," plus with their recent deal with DreamWorks, will offer users more than 300 hours of original entertainment from Casper the Friendly Ghost to Shrek.

Hulu Plus

Hulu was founded in 2007 and features ad-supported services that allow you to watch many of the most popular television shows on network and cable stations. The company was quite profitable in 2012, making close to $700 million. This service offers users the chance to watch their favorite shows they may have missed a night earlier from NBC, Fox, TBS and ABC. They also offer the chance to see behind the scenes clips of your favorite shows and even the chance to see the shows in high definition.

Amazon Instant Video

This service isn't as popular as Hulu or Netflix, but it does give users the options of watching their favorite shows and movies in their living room, on their iPad or online. This service is offered on just as many devices and products, but doesn't get as much notoriety as other services.

Flixster

Founded in 2007, this small company of less than 100 employees has been owned by Warner Brothers since 2011. When you buy a DVD and it comes with a digital copy of the movie, a lot of the time, that digital copy is available through Flixster. Flixster includes newer movies that just came out of DVD and older movies that have developed a cult following.

Redbox Instant

When Redbox began offering nightly rentals for $1, they changed the way people looked at movie rentals and helped push Blockbuster down a few pegs. With Redbox Instant powered by Verizon will give users an alternative to Netflix. For $8 a month, you will have immediate access to more than 4,000 movies and four DVD rentals per month. Among the partners whose movies will be included are Viacom, MGM and Lions Gate Entertainment. - See more at: http://www.dtvusaforum.com/blogs/hobson-lopes/529-playstation-4-streaming-tv-options.html#sthash.q3xpXmZc.dpuf
